Mackinac Island's airport is suitable for small craft. Many people
sailboat to the Island; to rent boat slips call the DNR, winter (231)
627-9011 or summer (906) 847-3561. You can drive on scenic routes or
from the south all expressways. Mackinac Island is 50 miles from the
Canadian border and its two mainland connections are Mackinaw City
(800) 666-0160 and St. Ignace (800) 338- 6660, both of which have
ample parking and numerous ferry docks with service to the Island.
Ferry runs April through Dec. 31st. Winter plane from St. Ignace to
Mackinac Island is about $14.00 one-way, call (906) 643-7165. Summer
slightly higher.
Great Lakes Air provides passenger
charter service from St. Ignace to Mackinac Island. Great Lakes Air
also is available to meet commercial flights arriving at Pellston and
Traverse City. Charter flights from other destinations aboard single
or multi-engine aircraft can be arranged. All flights are by
